Role Description / Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated professional to champion high-quality teaching and foster effective learning of English. This role plays a vital part in supporting the broader objectives of the British Council, contributing to its cultural relations mission, and strengthening global connections through language. Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree.
  • Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or TESOL certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-certificate experience gained from teaching a variety of age groups and levels from young learners through to adults.
  • Recognised diploma in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), e.g., DELTA.
  • Proficiency in English at CEFR C2 level.
  • Location: Madrid. Teachers may work in more than one British Council centre or partner institution.
  • Monthly gross salary: €1055 (CELTA) or €1127 (DELTA).
  • Contracted hours per week: 15.5.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday (12:00-15:00 and 17:00-21:50), Saturday (10:00-13:30 and 15:00-18:30).
  • Proof of identity and right to work: Candidates must have a legal right to work in the country on a permanent basis. No visa support or relocation assistance provided.
  • Contract type: Indefinite.
  • This position primarily involves teaching young learners, with some adult classes. Experience and interest in working with children and teenagers are required.
