Your role and work environment

We are seeking a talented Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Chapter.
This team ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of ING’s critical platforms, delivering the best customer experience.
As a senior member, you will lead the evolution of SRE practices, mentor engineers, and drive innovation through automation and AI adoption in a highly regulated banking environment.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will:

Lead and Evolve SRE Practices

• Detect & Repair: Champion observability, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
• Prevent & Prioritize: Implement capacity planning, reliability testing, and error budget policies.
• Mentor and Influence: Share knowledge, lead awareness campaigns, and coach teams on SRE principles.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify systemic reliability gaps and provide hands‑on technical guidance.
• Define and Report Metrics: Ensure production systems are highly reliable, available, efficient, secure, and scalable.
• Foster Observability Culture: Promote optimal monitoring and proactive alerting strategies.
• Collaborate Across Domains: Align SRE objectives with business goals, security, and compliance requirements.
• Improve Resilience: Use automation and code to prevent recurrence of incidents.

Innovate with AI and Emerging Technologies

• Adopt AIOps and GenAI: Explore and implement AI‑driven solutions for alert correlation, anomaly detection, and incident triage.
• Generative Runbooks & Knowledge Management: Use GenAI to maintain and enhance operational documentation.
• Predictive Reliability: Apply ML models for capacity forecasting and proactive risk mitigation.
• Stay Ahead: Continuously research and integrate emerging technologies to strengthen reliability and efficiency.

Leadership

• Lead by Example: Set technical direction for reliability engineering and automation.
• Influence Culture: Embed SRE principles across product teams and IT operations.
• Strategic Thinking: Align reliability initiatives with ING’s digital transformation and regulatory commitments.

What are we looking for?

Proven Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of system design principles, distributed systems, and on‑prem/private cloud infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
• Solid experience in Linux, configuration management (Ansible), container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Skilled in CI/CD automation, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and scripting (Python/Go).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the stack and optimize performance.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing cross‑functional teams.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical reliability goals into business outcomes.

Desirable Skills

• Background in software development (Java or similar).
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance in financial services (DORA, GDPR).
• Experience in AIOps, GenAI, and ML‑driven reliability.
• Ability to identify opportunities for AI‑assisted automation and predictive analytics in SRE.

Buscamos a una persona Senior Site Reliability Engineer con talento para unirse a nuestro SRE Chapter.

Tus responsabilidades principales

Como Persona Senior Site Reliability Engineer, tendrás entre tus funciones:

Liderar y evolucionar las prácticas SRE

• Detectar y reparar: Impulsar la observabilidad, la respuesta a incidentes y los postmortems sin culpabilización.
• Prevenir y priorizar: Implementar planificación de capacidad, pruebas de fiabilidad y políticas de error budget.
• Acompañar e influir: Compartir conocimiento, liderar campañas de concienciación y guiar a equipos en principios SRE.
• Impulsar la mejora continua: Identificar brechas sistémicas de fiabilidad y ofrecer guía técnica práctica.
• Definir y reportar métricas: Garantizar sistemas en producción altamente fiables, disponibles, eficientes, seguros y escalables.
• Fomentar la cultura de observabilidad: Promover estrategias óptimas de monitorización y alertas proactivas.
• Colaborar entre dominios: Alinear objetivos de SRE con metas de negocio, seguridad y cumplimiento normativo.
• Mejorar la resiliencia: Usar automatización y código para evitar recurrencia de incidentes.

Innovar con IA y tecnologías emergentes

• Adoptar AIOps y GenAI: Explorar e implementar soluciones impulsadas por IA para correlación de alertas, detección de anomalías y triaje de incidentes.
• Runbooks generativos y gestión del conocimiento: Utilizar GenAI para mantener y mejorar documentación operativa.
• Fiabilidad predictiva: Aplicar modelos de ML para previsión de capacidad y mitigación proactiva de riesgos.
• Mantenerse al día: Investigar e integrar continuamente tecnologías emergentes para reforzar la fiabilidad y eficiencia.

Liderazgo

• Liderar con el ejemplo: Definir la dirección técnica en ingeniería de fiabilidad y automatización.
• Influir en la cultura: Integrar principios SRE en equipos de producto y operaciones TI.
• Pensamiento estratégico: Alinear iniciativas de fiabilidad con la transformación digital y compromisos regulatorios de ING.

Experiencia técnica demostrada

• Sólido entendimiento de principios de diseño de sistemas, sistemas distribuidos e infraestructura on‑prem o nube privada.
• Conocimiento profundo de herramientas de observabilidad (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
• Experiencia sólida en Linux, gestión de configuración (Ansible) y orquestación de contenedores (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Habilidad en automatización CI/CD, Infraestructura como Código y scripting (Python/Go).
• Capacidad para diagnosticar problemas complejos en todo el stack y optimizar rendimiento.

Liderazgo y colaboración

• Habilidades de comunicación para traducir objetivos técnicos de fiabilidad en resultados de negocio.

Habilidades deseables

• Experiencia en desarrollo de software (Java o similar).
• Conocimiento de normativas en servicios financieros (DORA, GDPR).
• Experiencia en AIOps, GenAI y fiabilidad basada en ML.
• Capacidad para detectar oportunidades de automatización asistida por IA y analítica predictiva en SRE.
