The team :

The Quantitative Analysis Group reports to the Wholesale Gas Trading Control & Administration Management Unit and provides advanced analytic solutions to help optimize Wholesale Gas Trading’s European portfolio and assets while effectively managing risk.

The Role :

This role involves working closely with departments such as Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Credit, Corporate Risk, Process Support, and Accounting. It is suitable for a senior analyst with a strong commodities background and a desire to develop a career within an international energy company that offers growth and diversity. The candidate should be dynamic, possess high analytical capabilities, and have strong knowledge of Europe’s Natural Gas markets to understand physical operations and financial instruments involved in our business.

Responsibilities :
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated quantitative models supporting WGT’s gas, LNG, and power businesses.
  • Conduct stress testing, PFE, and Value at Risk analyses for portfolios across diverse regions and strategies.
  • Model portfolio assets and AMAs to build hedging and optimization strategies.
  • Support pre-deal evaluations and compute performance metrics for trade books, incorporating risk characteristics.
  • Implement and provide technical support for these models in official systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other business areas including Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Credit, and Compliance.
Required Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Finance, Math, or Business.
  • 8+ years of experience in quantitative research, trading, or risk management related to energy markets.
  • Strong understanding of option pricing, derivatives, mathematical finance, and stochastic calculus.
  • Expertise in modeling and developing valuation and risk models, analyzing structured transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, programming concepts, VBA, and SQL Server; experience with quantitative risk tools (e.g., FEA, Lacima) and ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro).
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience with European LNG and Gas Products is highly recommended.
