Descripción del empleo
Senior Petrophysicist – Madrid

Energy company based in Madrid seeks a Senior Petrophysicist to lead petrophysical evaluation and interpretation for North Africa projects (Algeria, etc.). The role focuses on advanced petrophysical analysis, rock typing, saturation‑height modeling (Sw), and reservoir characterization to support field development and production optimization.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in North African basins, a strong background in integrating well log, core, and seismic data, and the ability to collaborate with reservoir modeling and engineering teams to drive data‑driven decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed petrophysical evaluations using open‑hole and cased‑hole logs, core data, and special core analysis (SCAL).
  • Conduct uncertainty analysis and sensitivity studies to assess petrophysical variability and risk.
  • Lead rock‑typing studies to classify reservoir intervals based on lithology, pore geometry, and flow units, integrating core descriptions, thin sections, and log data to define electrofacies and hydraulic flow units (HFUs).
  • Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to ensure consistency between petrophysical rock types and dynamic reservoir behavior.
  • Develop saturation‑height functions (capillary pressure models) using core data, well logs, and production data; calibrate Sw models with production logs, well tests, and dynamic reservoir data; integrate petrophysical data into static and dynamic reservoir models.
  • Provide petrophysical inputs for 3‑D geological and simulation models, ensuring consistency with well data and geological concepts.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control of well log data (gamma ray, resistivity, density, neutron, NMR, etc.) and ensure data consistency across petrophysics, geology, and reservoir engineering disciplines.
  • Interpret NMR for pore‑size distribution and fluid typing; perform dielectric and spectral gamma‑ray analysis for complex lithologies; evaluate fracture and stress using image logs (FMI, UBI).
  • Participate in integrated reservoir studies and field reviews for North Africa projects.
  • Mentor junior petrophysicists and provide technical guidance to cross‑functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or PhD in Petrophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or Geophysics.
  • Proven experience in rock‑typing, Sw modeling, and reservoir characterization.
  • Strong background in integrating well log, core, and seismic data.
  • Experience with North African basins preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent in English and French (mandatory); Spanish is a plus; Arabic is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Petrophysical software (e.g., Schlumberger ECLIPSE, Petrel, or custom tools).
  • Reservoir modeling software: Python, MATLAB, or R for custom petrophysical workflows.
  • Core–log integration and SCAL data analysis.
