Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to lead the development of custom Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal (FLC) optical elements for near-eye displays. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the advancement of Extended Reality (XR) technology. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative FLC optical solutions that meet the highest standards of performance and quality. Your expertise in FLC materials, electrical and optical properties, and experimental ability to develop and characterise FLC optical elements will be essential in driving our product development forward.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of custom Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal (FLC) optical elements for near-eye displays.
• Design and develop innovative FLC optical solutions that meet high performance and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to advance XR technology and move product development forward.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Deep understanding of FLC materials and their electrical and optical properties.
• Experimental ability to develop FLC optical elements and to characterize electrical and optical properties of FLC optical elements.
• Overview of cutting-edge and industrially established methods for FLC alignment.
• Overview of substrate materials used in FLC optical elements.
• Ability to develop custom electro-optical simulations of FLC optical elements.
• Overview of scalable methods for manufacturing FLC optical elements.
• Understanding of refractive and diffractive optics.
• PhD degree in Optics or Materials Science with a focus on developing (or working with) FLC optical elements with 3 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
• Professional working level of English.
• Structured and critical thinking; high personal and professional integrity; good listening skills and openness to feedback; ability to share information clearly; ability to work in a team and collaborate with external partners; innovative and creative vision to identify new solutions.
