About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned expert in Optical Engineering to lead our R&D efforts in developing cutting-edge near-eye displays.
- As a Senior Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom optical elements using ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs).
- You will also act as a technical advisor on external projects with industrial and academic partners.
- Support the transition from R&D phase to production at scale.
- Collaborate with our patent attorney to draft patents for inventions generated during the R&D process.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop FLC optical elements for near-eye displays.
- Act as an in-house technical advisor for collaboration projects with industrial and academic partners.
- Support the transition from R&D phase to production at scale.
- Support the in-house patent attorney in drafting patents for inventions generated during the R&D process.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of FLC materials and their electrical and optical properties.
- Experimental ability to develop FLC optical elements.
- Experimental ability to characterise electrical and optical properties of FLC optical elements.
- Overview of cutting-edge and industrially established methods for FLC alignment.
- Overview of substrate materials used in FLC optical elements.
