The jobholder is responsible for the technical development, deployment, and management of new or existing customised audit programs and/or unaccredited food certification schemes within Business Assurance. More specifically:

  1. Support the development and optimisation of 2nd party/customised programs aligned with the strategic, operational, and financial objectives of the business units.
  2. Act as the lead technical contact and project manager for assigned Global Key Accounts.
  3. Under the direction of the line manager, lead the technical development and management of new and/or existing 2nd party and customised projects.
  4. Collaborate closely with Global Key Account Managers (GKAMs) to deploy new international food auditing or other customised programs.
  5. Serve as the dedicated technical project manager for one or more SGS Food Global Key Accounts, working alongside the overall GKAM.
  6. Be responsible for auditor development, training, and calibration for assigned global projects, ensuring auditors and technical teams are fully versed in project and client requirements.
  7. Work with International Solution Managers (ISMs) to support new requests, RFPs, and the development of new programs/checklists.
  8. Participate actively in client meetings, leading technical discussions and demonstrating a high level of understanding of project status, performance vs client KPIs, and presenting summaries, analytics, challenges, solutions, and highlights.
  9. Act as the first point of contact for ISMs and GKAMs for assigned key accounts, ensuring service delivery is consistent and meets technical requirements.
  10. Drive consistency and improvements in Food-related SOPs, processes, practices, and capability at a global level.
  11. Utilise all relevant SGS IT platforms effectively for delivering 2nd party and customised solutions.
  12. Proactively engage with stakeholders to identify new opportunities for 2nd party or customised products and services to enhance the global food portfolio.
  13. Provide technical support and advice to SGS network affiliates and customers as needed.
  14. Collaborate with the line manager to support social media marketing, PR, webinars, and business development efforts.
  15. Represent SGS in industry working groups, technical committees, and at relevant events as requested.
  16. Work closely with the line manager to provide any required specialist support.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Food or related industries, or as a technical service provider to the food sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Broad experience and thorough understanding of Food safety principles, management systems, manufacturing processes, and key challenges across categories, with an auditing background in food safety.
  • Good understanding of codes of practice such as allergen management, labelling, and foreign body detection.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and quality systems in certification and auditing contexts.
  • Ability to think creatively and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Pragmatic with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of managing conflicting priorities across multiple countries or projects.
  • Business and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective at all organizational levels.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
