Electronic Security System (ESS) Network Technician

Purpose
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need an Electronic Security System (ESS) Network Technician who serve as the primary point of contact for all ESS Network components and provide Network related services for a Department of Defense customer in the Hampton Roads area.
  • Leverage knowledge and skills necessary to design, install, test and maintain Electronic Security Systems
Job Description
  • Maintain the current and future Authorization to Operate (ATO) by providing software, firmware, and hardware updates and configurations as required.
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, input, and latency) and test for weaknesses
  • Set up user accounts and permissions.
  • Provide guidance and resolve problems reported by end users of the ESS network systems and of computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical support hardware and cabling.
  • Create firewalls and update virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and Communications protected at the system classification minimum.
  • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems. Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems where required.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering and networking needs and requirements regarding system performance, installations, and maintenance programs
  • Provide recommended improvements to existing systems and designs using industry best practices
  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of ESS Networks.
Qualifications
  • Position requires at least three (3) years of experience working with Network Switches, Routers, IPSEC and alternative Configuration Methods to include Cyber Security related to Wired and Wireless Networks showing installation, modification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Network Systems and Devices.
  • Relevant experience must be within the last two (2) years.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Certifications or technical training is highly desirable (Lenel, Milestone, Security+. CISSP)
  • Familiarity with DoD ESS requirements.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and practices such as grounding and electrical safety.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour Safety Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Be familiar with and have a working knowledge of a multitude of systems including but not limited to:
    • DoD and DoS Security Systems and requirements
    • Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems such as Lenel, Vindicator, AMAG, and DMP
    • IP CCTV Surveillance Systems such as Genetec, Axis, Pelco and Milestone.
    • Perimeter Protection Systems such as Southwest Microwave, Fiber SenSys and Protech
    • Mass Notification Systems such as Federal Signal SelecTone and SiRcom
    • Mechanical and electromechanical locking systems (electronic strikes, magnetic locks, etc.)
  • TCP/IP Network Systems and Topology.
  • Current Passport
Security Requirements
  • Must have a current DoD “Top Secret” security clearance with the eligibility to upgrade to “SCI”
Travel Requirements
  • Less than 5% Travel, international and domestic, depending on program requirements.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, & kneel up to 75% of the time.
  • Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and visual acuity (depth perception).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), Inside or Outside / Noise levels
