Overview

Santander Private Banking is looking for a Business Development Manager for our offices at Paseo de la Castellana, 24.

About the challenge and opportunity

At Santander ( www.santander.com ), we actively participate in the transformation of the financial services sector. Would you like to join our team?

The Wealth Management & Insurance division covers three businesses across all the countries where Grupo Santander operates: insurance, asset management, and private banking. We work to provide the best solutions for our clients in these three businesses across more than 10 countries in which we have a presence.

The position is based in Santander Private Banking. Our ambition is to be the bank of choice for affluent, high-net-worth, and ultra-high-net-worth clients in Europe and the Americas. Through a global platform and a strong local presence, we provide clients with tailor-made investment solutions, lending capabilities, and wealth structuring expertise.

Our business model leverages Banco Santander’s trusted client relationships, combined with the specialized knowledge of our private bankers and product experts, to deliver holistic wealth management solutions.

We embrace a strong risk culture and expect everyone on our team—regardless of their role—to take a proactive and responsible attitude towards risk management. Santander is proud to be an equal opportunity organization, regardless of race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, nationality, or gender identity.

Your mission

As Business Development Manager II, your aim will be to contribute to the successful growth and management of Santander Private Banking across multiple geographies by ensuring meaningful analysis of the business, anticipating challenges, and identifying strategic opportunities.

We need someone like you to help us in several key areas:

  • Liaise with multiple Private Banking areas (commercial teams, products, finance, strategy) to support key decisions and prioritize initiatives through deep analysis of business performance, client profitability, and P&L results across our international footprint.
  • Gain a holistic view of Santander Private Banking globally to anticipate deviations from plan and identify growth opportunities across client segments, markets, and products. Challenge the businesses under unexpected deviations and support corrective action plans.
  • Lead or support the annual Strategic and Financial Planning process, engaging with regional and country teams to define ambitious but sustainable growth plans aligned with Group priorities.
  • Build and maintain financial and business development models to track performance, forecast results, and project scenarios based on key Private Banking indicators (AuM inflows/outflows, net new money, lending, revenues, cost-to-income, client segmentation).
  • Scale best practices in business monitoring and performance analysis across geographies, ensuring consistency while adapting to local business models.
  • Provide insightful analysis and materials for senior management, including the CEO and Global Head of Wealth Management & Insurance, as well as the Santander Private Banking Management Committee.
Required experience
  • Strong experience in multinational, matrixed organizations, with ability to influence across business units and geographies.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, business analysis, and P&L interpretation within Private Banking or closely related businesses.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, structured, and executive-ready PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate complex financial and strategic insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills to present insights and results in C-suite and executive leadership forums.
  • 8–10 years’ experience in Private Banking (nice to have), Wealth Management, or related financial services (investment banking, asset management, strategy consulting with focus on financial institutions).
Required education, knowledge and traits
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting (Master’s degree or CFA is a strong plus).
  • High proficiency in English and Spanish; Portuguese is highly desirable.
  • Strong modeling and analytical skills, with ability to design and manage financial models that support business growth and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of Private Banking products and services (investments, lending, wealth planning, and advisory) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in international teams, with proven ability to adapt to cultural differences and build trust across diverse stakeholders
