Our software platform enables our partners to extend their value proposition by offering flexible financing products in their own branding, to their merchant base, without capital at risk.

We are headquartered in London, UK, but are also present in several European countries as well as the United States where we service our partners, including eBay, Amazon, Just Eat, Shopify, and Stripe.

The Role

You will be working closely with the Head of European Operations to open and expand YouLend's newest office in Germany. The candidate will take full ownership of building and managing the German-speaking Sales team (40+ people expected within 12 months). This team is responsible for servicing new and existing business as they apply for merchant cash advances (MCAs).

Your primary objective is to ensure that customers are served well (as measured through Trustpilot and NPS), whilst ensuring conversion rates and funded amounts are high. You will be responsible for hiring, training and developing current and prospective team members to meet targets. In addition, you will work closely with stakeholders in Partnerships, Product, and Commercial to go-to-market with new partners and improve the overall merchant experience.

This role will be targeted at improving the outcome, processes, and efficiencies across the German market. You should be able to work independently, build a high-performing team, be proactive, and meet ambitious targets. You should have a strong understanding of the end-to-end application cycle, and successfully implement strategies to streamline operations, improve conversion, and enhance the overall customer experience. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; as well as excellent people skills to communicate changes.

  • Be at the forefront of building out our German Sales team, hiring and developing the team from the ground up.
  • Take full ownership of making our German Sales team as efficient as possible, while delivering high conversion rates, partner service, and customer outcomes.
  • Hire, train, and develop current and prospective team members to meet targets. This includes but is not limited to: (1) drive forward KPI reporting and monitoring across the teams to deliver growth and efficiency, (2) identify and close process gaps, and (3) continuously train and mentor team members.
  • Enable a high-performing team by making data-driven decisions and translating insights into clear action plans that deliver measurable improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Partnerships, Commercial, and Product to adapt processes for existing partners and go-to-market with new partners.
  • Act as a change leader, implementing and embedding improvements quickly and effectively across teams with minimal disruption and strong adoption.

The ideal candidate will have the following skillset:

  • A strong track record of managing people (ideally 10+) and mentoring your direct reports. Ideally, you also have experience managing managers.
  • 2+ years' experience at a high-growth fintech, financial services, or top strategy consulting firm. Exposure to SME lending in continental Europe is a plus: preferably cash advances.
  • Project management experience from a fast-paced environment like start-ups or scale-ups, etc.
  • You are hands-on, proactive, and act with urgency — you push projects forward, remove blockers, and get things done.
  • Successful track record of delivering against ambitious targets.
  • Excellent communication: written and verbal.
  • Excellent change management handling.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mass data manipulation (through SQL, Python, R, etc.) experience.
