Senior Software Engineer Infrastructure (m / f / d)

We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to lead the infrastructure efforts of secunet’s Software Factory.

The Software Factory is secunet’s innovation program, designed to provide the technical means to develop entirely new product classes. It consists of a team of highly motivated software engineers focused on cutting-edge, security-focused shared components, and a DevSecOps platform that supports the entire lifecycle of our products. This is a dynamic and evolving team, offering exciting challenges and opportunities for growth.

This position combines both software and systems engineering to build and run IT infrastructure. You will monitor the capacity and performance of our systems, ensuring they run reliably with appropriate uptime. We value fast and incremental improvements. Your efforts will focus on building infrastructure, optimizing systems, and automating tasks to eliminate work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend, and improve our infrastructure continuously
• Ensure solid observability across all services (visualization, alerting, log aggregation)
• Design, build, and own Nix build infrastructure
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners
• Align strategy with secunet’s internal IT
• Document your work for users and fellow developers
• Ensure security of our services using modern technologies

Your Profile

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Extensive experience with on-premises deployments and architecture
• Deep experience with the NixOS ecosystem
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Proven contribution to Open Source projects
• Programming experience in Rust, Python, Go, or similar languages
• Ability to work autonomously in coordination with teams in the Software Factory
• Familiarity with German language is an advantage but not required
