Description

Vantage is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our design & engineering team, focusing on innovative solutions for data centre projects. This role involves managing the design development process, collaborating with design, construction management, and procurement teams. The engineer will address technical challenges, utilizing diverse tools to identify optimal solutions.

A strong understanding of electrical engineering, including UPS systems, generators, and data centre distribution topologies, is essential.

Essential Job Functions

• Investigate new technologies and develop business cases for their implementation.
• Participate in all aspects of electrical design, including conceptual design, basis of design, scope of work, and construction documents.
• Drive project tasks and milestones
• Perform technical reviews of designs, submittals, RFIs, and assessments against business needs.
• Visit sites for field investigations and coordination.

Duties

• Develop and review project specifications, drawings, design documents, and commissioning scripts.
• Perform analyses for loads, lighting, short-circuit currents, and conduct studies like photometric, coordination, and arc flash mitigation.
• Review sequence of operations for electrical systems
• Conduct distribution analysis to de-risk electrical infrastructure.
• Attend design meetings ensuring standards are met.
• Conduct value engineering and provide system recommendations based on ROI and IRR analyses.
• Review project plans and participate in gating approvals.
• Collaborate internally for optimized product delivery.
• Participate in on-site walks and meetings.
• Assist operations in troubleshooting and tuning systems.
• Perform additional tasks as directed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years, ideally 7, in electrical power design and construction.
• Preferred experience in data centre design.
• Knowledge of critical power infrastructure from external supply to end circuits.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, AmpCalc, and ETAP.
• Understanding of Revit, BIM, Navisworks.
• Knowledge of building and fire codes, IEC standards.
• Willingness to travel 10-15%, possibly more.
