About the opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Platform Enablement team within our Platform Engineering Domain at N26.

Our mission in Platform Engineering is to deliver trusted, performant, and self-service platforms that empower product teams to build “the bank the world loves to use.” The Platform Enablement team plays a crucial role by providing a suite of tools that boost engineering efficiency while upholding high standards of security and compliance.

This role is a Hybrid role based in our Berlin or Barcelona offices.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.
• Collaborate closely with your Tech Lead on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology.
• Work within your cross-functional team to uphold the highest technical standards right across the product.

What you need to be successful:

• Significant experience in developing software using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems.
• Solid experience with software development best practices and software architectures (Distributed systems, Domain Driven Design, Testing).
• Full professional proficiency in English.
• Previous experience with cloud architectures, preferably with AWS.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Hands-on experience developing and/or operating event streaming platforms (preferably Kafka).
