A leading automotive company in Stuttgart is offering a thesis opportunity focused on the interface between production and development. The candidate will conduct research in product development, analyze products, and develop predictive methods for factory metrics. Candidates should be pursuing a technical degree, preferably in mechanical or industrial engineering, with strong skills in data analysis and product development.
Tasks
Vehicle body concepts influence production aspects such as manufacturability, product quality, costs, and sustainability. Identified potential for improving these aspects can be more comprehensively evaluated and leveraged by examining diverse solution concepts. This thesis aims to contribute to this topic.
Your role will be at the interface between production and development. Conduct research in the area of product development to leverage knowledge from series production. Analyze our products and develop a method for predicting factory metrics based on product characteristics. Identify the relationship between production effort and product and quantify it in terms of costs. Validate your method based on information from series production and identify potential for more efficient product concepts.
Requirements
Degree programs:
Students in a technical field such as mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, ideally with the following areas of study: systems engineering, requirements engineering, product development methods and processes.
Expert knowledge:
Data analysis, product development, data-driven engineering, product cost accounting.
IT skills:
Fluent in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Language skills:
Good knowledge of German and English.
Additional requirements:
Good knowledge of the product development process in the automotive industry, very good conceptual and analytical skills, initiative, commitment, organizational skills, strong communication and teamwork skills.
