Job Description:
Project Overview: The COIN Project (Control-Oriented Innovations for Future Ocean Energy Farms) aims to advance renewable ocean energy to meet climate and energy security goals. It involves developing smart connectors, real-time AI wave prediction, and digital twin health monitoring to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of ocean energy systems, supported by a techno-economic framework. HPE contributes expertise in advanced control, forecasting, and digital twins to aid commercialization.
Start/End Date: October 2025 to September 2028
Location: Galway / Dublin
Mandatory Requirements: PhD degree or Master’s with equivalent research experience
What We Are Looking For:
We seek a highly qualified, self-motivated machine learning/AI researcher to join our growing AI research team in Ireland, focusing on digital twins and machine learning applications. Hewlett Packard Labs is an international research organization based in Silicon Valley, dedicated to delivering breakthrough technologies that give HPE a competitive edge. The AI Research Lab (AIRL) specializes in applied ML research, including reinforcement learning, digital twins, sustainability, and trustworthy AI. The ideal candidate will have a background in machine learning, time series analysis, reinforcement learning, and digital twin applications, with strong engineering skills to model physical systems.
We expect team members to provide thought leadership, innovate from conception to implementation, collaborate internally and externally, and bring ideas to practice. Skills in software systems development, AI/ML platforms, and digital twin technologies are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and program integrated software algorithms, analyze and leverage structured and unstructured data, work with large-scale computing frameworks, apply machine learning to improve system performance, and document procedures.
