Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Devops Engineer who also possesses basic software development skills as well as IP networking history to join our growing team. This role bridges traditional IP network engineering with the ability to automate, integrate, and optimize network operations through scripting and light coding. You will be responsible for managing customer circuits and leveraging development skills to streamline devops processes and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Automation & Development
  • Write and maintain basic scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar) to automate repetitive network tasks.
  • Use APIs to integrate with monitoring, provisioning, and ticketing systems.
  • Develop small utilities or dashboards to improve visibility and efficiency.
• Network Configuration & Maintenance
  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other IP network components.
  • Maintain routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).
  • Support IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes.
  • Provision, test, and activate customer IP circuits.
  • Coordinate with carriers and vendors for circuit installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Network Operations & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues across LAN, WAN, and customer-facing environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis for service disruptions and implement long-term solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve customer or internal network issues.
• Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed network diagrams, circuit records, configurations, and change logs.
  • Ensure systems meet security best practices and compliance standards.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on IP networking experience.
• 1+ years of experience writing scripts or small applications for automation.
• Experience provisioning and troubleshooting customer IP circuits.
• Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Ansible).
• Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with VoIP/SIP or telecom networking.
• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes networking concepts.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work lifting no more than 10 pounds.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and standing.
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment.
• Vision sufficient to read computer screens, reports, and related department documents.
• Dexterity to operate computer keyboards and other related office equipment.
• Endurance sufficient to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Frequent speech communication and hearing.
