A mission-driven business is seeking a Finance & Payroll Operations Specialist. You will manage vendor payments, reconcile accounts, and ensure payroll processing for employees in the US and Canada. This role requires proficiency with finance software and an understanding of payroll tax regulations. The position supports remote work and offers the chance to contribute to a socially important mission.

Manage weekly or bi-weekly vendor payment runs and partner remittance
Reconcile corporate credit cards and support month-end close tasks including bank reconciliations, accruals, and balance sheet schedules
Prepare and post journal entries in NetSuite
File monthly sales taxes across US states and Canadian provinces, coordinating with partners as needed
Handle ad hoc financial reporting and support annual audit processes
Process semi-monthly payroll for employees in Canada and the US, including managing payroll taxes, benefits, and related filings
Administer employee expense reimbursements
Collaborate closely with finance leadership to improve processes, controls, and automation
Communicate effectively during a 3-hour overlap with US/Canada teams for coordination and reporting
Proficiency with finance and payroll software including NetSuite, Tipalti, Avalara, WagePoint, Asure, Fyle, or comparable software, with a strong willingness and ability to learn quickly
Solid understanding of bookkeeping, payroll processing, tax compliance, and month-end close procedures
Experience with US and Canadian payroll tax regulations and filings is preferred, but candidates with strong willingness to learn will also be considered
Ability to take full ownership of assigned tasks, manage priorities effectively, and deliver accurate work on time
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high data integrity and compliance
Proactive in identifying process inefficiencies and suggesting improvements
Comfortable working independently and as part of a lean, remote team
Effective and timely communicator during the 3-hour overlap window with US/Canada leadership
Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new systems and processes as the business evolves
The team is US based, that’s why it’s important to cross time with the EST for at least 3 hours
