Position Overview

This job opportunity is open to CURRENT, PERMANENT USACE EMPLOYEES ONLY. This opportunity is being announced through the USACE Voluntary Internal Opportunities Program (VIOP). Current, permanent USACE employees with noncompetitive eligibility to be placed in this position are eligible to apply. This is a JOBtoberfest Announcement for a permanent reassignment to an internal position in the North Atlantic Division, Europe District, Engineering Division.

Who May Apply

This position is only open to current, permanent USACE employees with time-in-grade eligibility at the GS-0850-12 level.

Anticipated Start Date: This assignment will begin on/about pay periods beginning in the 2nd Quarter of FY26.

Overseas Duty Location

Europe District Headquarters located in Wiesbaden or at McCully Barracks, Germany.

This is a non-supervisory position supporting the District's vital mission.

This position serves as an electrical engineering specialist with responsibility for developing the designs, plans and specifications for lightning, power distribution, communications, controls, emergency power and other systems of major size and complexity for use in military facilities in Europe, including multi-story buildings, data processing centers, hospitals and similar structures.

Duties
  • Preparing drawings, specifications and design analyses for electrical portions of designs performed in-house, and reviewing contractor's design submittals.
  • Managing projects of considerable difficulty, containing combinations of unusual features, requiring significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects. Design review and design development are complicated by the requirement to adhere to US and Host Nation building, safety, electrical and fire codes; the use of US and foreign materials and equipment; differences in standards and construction techniques.
  • Serving as a technical advisor to district engineers on complex design projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a SECRET security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Overseas Position Requirements
  • Overseas positions may have a tour limitation.
  • You may be required to complete and sign DD Form 2365.
