The Calderdale and KirkleesIn-Patient Occupational Therapy team have an exciting opportunity for amotivated and dedicated Band 5 practitioner to become part of our Calderdaleteam. The service is embracing positive change and developing pathways of careto meet the diverse needs of adults and older people within an acute inpatientsetting.
We are looking for a skilled Band 5OT to join our team and provide specialist assessments and therapeuticinterventions for service users currently in receipt of in-patient mentalhealth care. The post is a permanent part time position(30hrs per week).
The post holder will work alongside adedicated multidisciplinary team comprising consultant psychiatrists, seniorclinical psychologists, nursing staff and physiotherapists.

We are looking for an innovative,committed & caring OT, who will demonstrate sound clinical decision making,work both autonomously & as part of the MDT. We pride ourselves onproviding the highest standard of assessment, treatment & client centredcare in a safe & therapeutic environment. The team supports the MDT in facilitatingsafe & effective discharge of acute inpatients. The team consistsof band 6, band 5 OTs and OT assistants. The serviceoperates over 7 days with OTAs covering weekends & Bank Holidays. Shiftsare 8.3016.30, & staff are expected to work one late shift a week. There is an expectation for all staff to cross wardand cross site work where necessary. We are a supportivetherapy team that work closely with the wider MDT. We adopt a recovery-basedapproach using evidence-based interventions and professional models of workingto inform our practice and ensure the delivery of high-quality care. A range of1:1 interventions and therapeutic groups are provided.

Thepost holder will be required to work as an integral part of themulti-disciplinary team, providing occupational therapy assessment andtreatment for service users in receipt of in-patient care. Enabling service users to engage in a rangeof in-patient and community based treatment activities and supporting safe andeffective discharge. You will beactively involved in the promotion of occupational therapy within the servicearea. The post holder will be requiredto work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and the client group, and thiswill include weekends and evening working.

Core Functions
Clinical
To provide occupational therapy assessments forpeople accessing the service, prioritising on the nature, complexity andurgency of each individual case.
To plan and implement an occupational therapytreatment programme on an individual and/or group basis, using graded activityto achieve therapeutic goals.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment inorder to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
To adopt a client centred and sensitiveapproach to therapy, collaborating with clients (and / or carer(s) whereappropriate) in all aspects of the therapy process.
To select and conduct occupational therapyassessments, addressing the physical, psychosocial, behavioural, perceptual,cognitive, sensory and environmental needs of clients.
To demonstrate a broad knowledge of the impactof disability, and to provide training and advice on lifestyles changes andadaptations to the clients psychosocial and physical environment, makingreferrals where appropriate.
To work proactively alongside other staff andclients in meeting their needs and to assist each individual to integrate withinthe local community as fully as possible, using practical and creative problemsolving approaches to gain the active participation of services users.
To participate in the discharge processidentifying appropriate resources and/or support in order to facilitateeffective discharge
To provide occupational therapy reports onassessment and treatment by written and verbal reports to Consultants, GPs andother agencies involved, and to ensure that all correspondence relating tocaseload is dealt with promptly.
To provide occupational therapy perspective inmulti-disciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, clinics and case conferences asrequired.
To work to the standards and comply withprofessional ethics for occupational therapy practitioners as laid down by TheRoyal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT 2015), relevant DoH and otherlocal and national standards.
To ensure that up to date records and activitydata are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards andpolicies.
