Job Summary:
The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine faculty member. This role offers an academic career in Molecular Imaging and Radiotheranostics at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor on the CT or CHS Track. Opportunities for leadership within the Nuclear Medicine Section and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center are available. Additional clinical opportunities may include subspecialty radiology sections such as Cardiovascular, Chest, or Abdominal, for candidates eligible for ABR certification in DR.
The UW Section of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging interprets a broad spectrum of nuclear medicine procedures, including PET examinations. The section comprises experts in general nuclear medicine, PET imaging, nuclear cardiology, PET/MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and thyroid cancer imaging and treatment. Therapies for cancer patients using unsealed sources (e.g., radioactive iodine for thyroid disease, 177-Lu-DOTATATE for neuroendocrine tumors) are routinely performed. The section is expanding its theranostics program, with plans for a future theranostics center, and features state-of-the-art imaging equipment including PET/CT, PET/MR, and SPECT/CT.
The Department of Radiology encompasses over 120 faculty across 10 specialty sections, interpreting over 600,000 diagnostic scans annually. The department trains more than 50 residents and fellows each year and is actively involved in medical student education. It benefits from collaboration with the Department of Medical Physics, sharing extensive facilities and cutting-edge equipment valued at over $30 million, including PET, CT, MR, angiography, ultrasound, and PACS. With nearly $16 million in NIH funding, it was ranked #11 by the Blue Ridge Institute in 2021 and third globally for impact on medical imaging according to Elsevier.
