WSP is currently looking for a Project Engineer to join our Rail and Transit department, located at one of our client offices in Toronto. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for developing the project concept and definition, and be accountable for coordinating, controlling, monitoring, and supervising multi-year, multi-discipline capital program projects from inception, definition of scope, planning, design, procurement, and construction, through commissioning and handover to project close-out in accordance with the project scope, schedule, budget, and quality assurance parameters.

• You will guide projects seamlessly through every phase.
• You will supervise, coordinate, and monitor multi-disciplinary design team
• You will collaborate with dynamic project teams to define concepts and scope that support both client needs and strategic goals.
• You will develop comprehensive work plans, including contract phases, budget allocations, and meticulous scheduling.
• You will review engineering work plans to ensure precise alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.
• You will oversee the preparation of technical specifications and detailed drawings.
• You will prepare Board Reports and coordinate essential inputs from other departments.
• You will provide engineering expertise throughout construction phases, ensuring full compliance with project requirements.

What you’ll bring to WSP

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in a mechanical or industrial engineering background.
• 10 years of experience in project management, construction management, and project controls in major transit facilities projects, preferably in train yards and bus garages.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in the Province of Ontario is a must.
• Proficiency in project management information systems and reporting as it relates to control of scope, scheduling, and cost.
• Proven experience in complex operational environments, including transit or similarly regulated sectors.
• Deep understanding of engineering and project management principles across all phases—from conceptual planning to detailed design and execution.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contract administration, inspection protocols, and relevant legislation, including the Ontario Construction Act.
• Strong judgment, organization, and time management skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, solve complex problems, and influence stakeholders through clear, collaborative communication.
• Possession of a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is considered an asset; access to a personal vehicle may be required for site visits.
• Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code and accessibility standards applicable to both employee and public accommodations.
