Job description
Title of the Position

Job Duties

The Architect will be responsible for developing conceptual and detailed architectural designs for multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial buildings, including floor plans, elevations, and site layouts. They will coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers to integrate building systems and ensure constructability.

The role involves preparing and submitting development and building permit applications, liaising with municipal departments to address zoning, design, and code compliance, and conducting design reviews to support energy efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability goals in line with CMHC MLI Select and related programs.

The Architect will research and recommend materials, building envelope systems, and construction methods that achieve cost-effective, durable, and high‑performing results.

They will participate in tender and construction phases by reviewing shop drawings, attending site meetings, and providing technical guidance to the construction team, ensuring project progress aligns with design intent and company objectives.

Additional responsibilities include: preparing presentations, renderings, and reports for partners, lenders, and municipal stakeholders; contributing to interior and site planning, including layouts, amenities, and landscaping concepts; assisting feasibility studies, massing analyses, and conceptual designs for future projects; and maintaining accurate, organized project documentation and correspondence throughout all stages of development.

Terms of Employment

This is a full‑time permanent position averaging 40 hours per week consisting of 95% office work and 5% would be site visits to construction sites.

Business Address and Location of Work

Unit 104 - 11510 Westgate Drive, Grande Prairie, Alberta, T8V 4E9 – This role is office‑based in Grande Prairie, Alberta; remote work is not available for this position.

The Architect works a standard 40‑hour week, typically Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a mix of office and site responsibilities.

Time is divided between preparing and refining architectural designs, coordinating with consultants and project managers, and ensuring compliance with municipal requirements. One to two days per week may involve site visits to monitor construction progress and address design issues.

Regular meetings with ownership, engineers, and contractors ensure alignment across all project stages.

The Architect also prepares reports, drawings, and presentations for partners and municipal submissions.
