Job Description
Position Highlights:
The Senior Cybersecurity Technical Specialist supports Cybersecurity Planning by providing expertise across the enterprise, playing a key role in executing the implementation plan aligned with the Enterprise Architecture vision and roadmap, incorporating input from Cybersecurity Operations for practical solution execution.
This role offers technical guidance on cybersecurity projects, ensuring alignment with guidelines, standards, policies, and practices.
What you'll do
- Provide cybersecurity technical oversight to projects and the enterprise with the Enterprise Cybersecurity Architect, solution architects, and Cybersecurity Operations.
- Participate in detailed technical cybersecurity design, analyze solution design and architecture, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, business plans, policies, and industry standards.
- Contribute to strategic directions within Cybersecurity Planning.
- Represent BC Hydro's cybersecurity interests on projects concerning business needs, standards, operational requirements, and compliance.
- Assess and prioritize cybersecurity risks and threats for mitigation through planning or operations.
- Drive remediation of cybersecurity gaps identified via assessments or operational teams.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity Planner, Enterprise Architect, and Cybersecurity Operations to strategize and implement cybersecurity initiatives.
- Work with project teams, business units, contractors, and suppliers on cybersecurity projects from research to implementation.
- Analyze project solutions to evaluate security impacts and identify architecture gaps, recommending alternatives.
- Participate in project requirements, design, testing, and documentation reviews.
- Engage with business units to monitor cybersecurity trends and issues.
- Stay updated on new technologies, industry trends, and developments (IT and OT).
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least seven years of experience designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions in a large enterprise.
- Extensive knowledge across multiple technologies, with expertise in two or more areas such as cloud, data centre, enterprise applications, identity and access management, security monitoring, firewalls, systems, networking, or collaboration tools.
- Significant experience in cybersecurity architecture and planning roles.
- Experience in identity and access management is critical.
- CISSP or relevant cybersecurity certifications preferred.
- Experience advising on security issues, system boundaries, risk assessments, and vulnerability management.
- Ability to optimize systems for enterprise performance.
- Knowledge of secure system design, network security architecture, and privacy principles.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- OT and ICS experience is an asset; NERC CIP compliance knowledge is a plus.
