A local cooperative organization in Boissevain, Manitoba is seeking a full-time Accountant to manage financial reporting, budgeting, and audits. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Business or Accounting, possess a CPA designation or be in the CPA program, and have 1-5 years of relevant experience. Under the guidance and leadership of the Controller, this role is responsible for performing general accounting functions, including the analysis and preparation of financial reports and statements. Key responsibilities include the preparation of journal entries/ledgers, fixed asset and inventory accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, reconciliation, and financial statement consolidation. The position also supports general accounting practices by providing an independent, objective assessment of governance, risk management processes, and the internal control structures.
The ideal candidate will evaluate and assess the co-operative's controls, processes, and procedures while working across multiple areas of accounting based on evolving business needs. In addition, the candidate will develop an understanding of policies and procedures, offering valuable input into accounting processes.
