Calgary Arts Academy is currently seeking applications for a full-time Music and Numeracy Specialist teaching position for the 2025 / 2026 school year.

Calgary Arts Academy, an innovative Alberta Public Charter School, is seeking a passionate and collaborative Elementary Music and Math Specialist to join our vibrant K–3 learning community. As the only school of its

kind, Calgary Arts Academy engages children through Arts Immersion to become confident learners and spirited citizens. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a creative, student-centered environment and is excited to support our Arts Immersion approach to learning. Our unique approach delivers the Alberta curriculum through the immersion of the five fine arts : music, visual art, dance, drama, and literary art.

The successful candidate will :

• deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in music and provide numeracy support to teachers and student small groups in Kindergarten through Grade 3.
• integrate Alberta Curriculum outcomes through Arts Immersion, using music as a foundation for cross-curricular learning with an emphasis on meaningful connections in Math.
• collaborate with classroom teachers and professional artists to design and implement Arts Immersion projects.
• support school-wide and campus-specific events such as assemblies, showcases, and performances.
• foster a love of music and numeracy in young learners through joyful, inclusive, and creative teaching practices.
• have a passion for continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education
• Bachelor's degree in music or music education (preferably with a specialization in Elementary Music).
• Valid Alberta Interim or Permanent Teaching Certificate.
• Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Teacher Certification or experience with RCM music training (preferred).
• Pedagogical foundation in teaching music theory.
• Demonstrated ability to teach early numeracy and foundational math concepts.
• Experience working with young children in a creative, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
• A desire to share your passion for music with students is an essential quality for success in this role.
• Willingness to support the Arts Immersion philosophy and contribute to a dynamic school

culture.
