Position: Accountant.
Location: North Bay or Timmins ON.
GreenFirst is looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to support management in the preparation, reporting, and reconciliation of financial statements. The incumbent will ensure accurate and timely financial statements, adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Responsibilities:
- Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
- Support an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Assist in the annual financial statement audit and quarterly reviews by providing supporting schedules/explanations to audit teams.
- Highlight opportunities and support continuous improvement for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries, and prepare account reconciliations.
- Review and approve monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
- Analyze financial statement results to support business objectives.
- Provide guidance to accountants and associates by coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Assist in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
- Track and reconcile Capital Project Authorizations to ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Update monthly working papers and ensure reconciliation with the general ledger.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in Business or a related field; CPA and/or MBA is an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive work experience.
- Up-to-date knowledge of GAAP and its application.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Vlookups and Pivot Tables.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Bilingual (English & French) – an asset.
