Maintenance Advisor – Guatemala

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Advisor to support operations in Guatemala. This is a full-time OCONUS position. This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected award date of October 2025.

As a Guatemala Maintenance Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the Guatemala Air Force (GAF) by providing technical advice, training, and guidance to improve maintenance, logistics, and operational capabilities. You will:

• Analyze GAF maintenance and logistics policies, procedures, acquisitions regulation, and other relevant documents.
• Identify gaps and recommend training, capacity-building initiatives, and key stakeholder engagement within the GAF and Ministry of Defense.
• Define actions needed to build GAF knowledge, skills, processes, and behaviors aligned with project goals.
• Frame challenges to enable relevant recommendations for GAF, the Office of Security Cooperation (OSC), and the Maintenance Advisor.
• Provide technical advice on maintaining the operational status of the aircraft fleet.
• Improve management, interpretation, and use of aircraft maintenance technical publications.
• Assist in establishing integrated logistics, preventative maintenance, inventory, and resource management programs.
• Establish programs to support continuous improvement within the GAF maintenance cadre.
• Support development of tool audit and operational testing programs.
• Manage, plan, execute, develop, and evaluate quality control programs, non-destructive testing, calibration of tools, and petroleum, oils, and lubricants programs.
• Advise planning and evaluation of scheduled/unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance.
• Support strict follow-up on required periodic audits for the GAF.
• Recommend relevant training for GAF maintenance personnel.
• Advise on practices to certify work conducted by GAF technicians.
• Support the development of a GAF flight safety program.

• Support creation, updating, and implementation of military standard maintenance instructions, regulations, and procedures.
• Create and manage a maintenance and technical resource library.
• Conduct audits and inspections of aircraft maintenance processes, workshops, and administrative units.
• Support occupational risk management, safety management, and evaluation of quality control programs.
• Audit equipment and special tool testing and operational testing.
• Manage, plan, and evaluate operations of systems (hydraulics, flight controls, fuel, power plant, electrical systems, avionics).
• Train GAF maintainers in maintenance tasks per technical orders and flight manuals.
• Train inspectors, supervisors, and maintenance management as required.
• Assist in standardization of procedures published in GAF doctrine and manuals.

Required Qualifications:

• Education & Experience: HS Diploma + 10 years of relevant experience
• Technical Expertise: Strong experience in aircraft maintenance and logistics support
• Knowledge of quality control, preventative maintenance, and safety programs
• Experience with inspections, audits, and operational testing
• Strong knowledge of GAF maintenance processes and technical manuals
• Certifications: Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• Experience training foreign military personnel
• Background in flight safety program development
• Familiarity with Ministry of Defense maintenance procedures and doctrine

• Some overnight stays possible.
• Must have an active passport to support OCONUS travel and/or living requirements.

• Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil

• Industrial setting: Must be able to work in an office and industrial environment around heavy machinery and moving parts.
• Must be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for a one-man lift.
• Must be able to work at above normal elevations.
• Standard ladder heights (6’, 8’, 10’ and 12’) as well as scaffolding, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
• Must be able to perform site visits and carry a laptop computer and other required tools.
