Job Description

The Performance & Video Analyst will lead video, coding, tagging, and performance analysis workflows for the Halifax Tides FC First Team. This role includes filming, clipping, organizing, and delivering video for training and matches; supporting opposition scouting; preparing player‑specific video packages; and assisting the technical staff with high‑performance insights.

This position works closely with the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Goalkeeping Coach, and Medical/Performance departments to ensure all video and data support the team’s playing philosophy, game model, and individual development plans.

Position Expectations
  • Video Capture, Clipping & Coding
  • Film all First Team training sessions and matches using club‑approved equipment (camera, drone when applicable).
  • Code and tag training sessions and matches using platforms such as Hudl, Sportscode, or equivalent.
  • Produce categorized clips aligned with the team’s tactical framework (in possession, out of possession, transitions, set pieces, etc.).
  • Ensure all video content is uploaded, labeled, and accessible for staff and players within designated timelines.
  • Maintain and manage all video hardware and storage systems.
Match & Opposition Analysis
  • Prepare detailed opposition analysis reports including team tendencies, tactical patterns, key players, set pieces, and match trends.
  • Break down opposition matches into digestible clips for coaches and players.
  • Provide pre‑match video decks, presentations, and tactical reference clips aligned with the Head Coach’s game plan.
  • Assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches with real‑time match analysis and in‑game insights.
Training Analysis & Team Preparation
  • Capture and deliver high‑quality video for all training sessions.
  • Clip training exercises to support learning, tactical emphasis, and session review.
  • Generate training reports that integrate video & key tactical insights.
  • Support the coaching staff in designing and reviewing training activities based on analysis feedback.
Individual Player Development
  • Prepare personalized clips and learning packages for individual players, aligned with their IDPs (Individual Development Plans).
  • Conduct 1‑on‑1 film review sessions with players as directed by the technical staff.
  • Identify technical/tactical trends to support player improvement over time.
Department Operations & Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with the entire Technical Staff to ensure analysis processes support the club’s playing style and game model.
  • Maintain consistent communication with coaching and medical teams regarding workload, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Manage all analysis‑related equipment, software, and licensing needs.
  • Adapt quickly to tight timelines, changing schedules, and evolving team needs.
Additional Duties
  • Support scouting and recruitment through video analysis and clip compilation.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and game‑model education sessions.
  • Assist technical staff with matchday operations and logistics when needed.
Position Specific Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience with a professional, national team, collegiate, or elite academy soccer program.
  • High proficiency with video analysis platforms (Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout, InStat, Veo, or similar).
  • Experience filming, tagging, clipping, and organizing large volumes of soccer video content.
  • Strong understanding of soccer tactical principles and ability to translate them into video formats.
  • Ability to work fast, accurately, and calmly under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with sensitive competitive information.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
Preferred
  • Experience operating a drone for training/match capture.
  • Background in performance analysis, kinesiology, coaching, or sport science.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Coaching qualifications (Canada Soccer C/B License or international equivalent).
  • Experience with GPS or athlete monitoring systems.
  • Must be able to work extended or irregular hours, including matchdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Role includes work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and prolonged standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. of equipment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Primary role is in‑person at Halifax Tides FC facilities and match locations.
