A comprehensive Canadian university in Ontario is seeking a part-time instructor for the course 'Advanced Sound Design'. Applicants must have an MFA, at least two years of university teaching experience, and proficiency in Digital Audio Workstations. Responsibilities include lecture preparation, student interaction, and grading. This position is governed by the CUPE4207-1 Collective Agreement.

Further develop skills and acquire knowledge on the field of digital sound, focusing on recording theory, post production techniques and presentation. Students will also learn about installation practices in Sound Art and the use of hardware and software to create sound‑based art projects. Lectures, lab, 4 hours per week.

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7,471.08 per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14,942.17 per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2‑hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2‑hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non‑classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).
1. MFA is required.
2. Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
3. A teaching history that includes Sound Art as the primary focus of a curriculum is required.
4. A thorough understanding of the history and applications of Sound Art, Installation Practices in Sound Art, Digital Audio Production, Relational Art, Locative Practices, Wearable Media, Basic Electronics and Acoustic Ecology is required.
5. Proficiency in Digital Audio Workstation and video editing software is required.
6. A record of professional activity in sound design and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.
7. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
