The Buyer reports to the Procurement Coordinator and is responsible for conducting transactional procurement activities for Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC). The Buyer facilitates the Request for Quotation process related to the acquisition of supplies and services, and participates in procurement processes for the sourcing and acquisition of capital equipment.

The Buyer supports corporate programs and projects by preparing reports, collecting, analyzing, and managing information and data in support of procurement initiatives.

• Minimum secondary school diploma, with a preference for candidates holding post-secondary qualifications in a business program.
• Experience in overall supply chain functions, including buying through formal tendering processes.
• Preferred qualifications include:
• Completed courses through the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA).
• Completed courses through the Ontario Public Buyers Association (OPBA).
• Experience working with group purchasing organizations.
• Working knowledge of medical supplies and/or medical equipment.
• Experience with purchasing systems such as Virtuo Medisolutions, SAP.
• Good communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with the ability to learn quickly, prioritize, and multitask in a high-paced, productivity-demanding environment.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
• Attention to detail and strong keyboarding skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical capability to work in an office environment, on a computer, and at a desk for the majority of the day.

Salary Range: $32.474 to $33.168
