Position Title:

Capital Project Engineer – Mechanical

Category/Shift:

Salaried Full-Time

Pay Rate:

$98,300 - $131,000

Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities, will determine the final placement within the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform:
  • Facility and pipeline mechanical design. Familiar with equipment sizing/selection and piping design/layout/construction.
  • Carry out detailed mechanical engineering work for projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete mechanical design work requests.
  • Comply with all safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Ensure mechanical standards (rotating equipment, piping, pressure vessels, tanks) are current and available.
  • Provide technical support for the pulp mill.
  • Ensure control documents are current and accessible. Familiar with isometrics and process flow diagrams.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering design notes, calculations, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to develop P&IDs and isometric piping drawings.
  • Prepare line, valve, tie-in, and specialty item lists.
  • Develop work packages for field and construction services.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure regulatory standards are met.
Project Duties:
  • Manage and deliver multiple projects effectively, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and cost control.
  • Coordinate project development with regional engineering and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare data sheets, specifications, and RFPs for equipment procurement.
  • Work with procurement to purchase and expedite equipment.
  • Review vendor drawings and coordinate inspection and quality control services.
  • Manage construction phase safely and efficiently.
The Skills You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 5-10 years of experience, registered or working towards P.Eng with APEGA.
  • Experience with process piping design, ASME codes, and boiler pressure vessel standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SAP.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment, familiar with pulp and paper industry.
