What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager - Environment, this position is responsible for supporting the effective development, implementation and maintenance of TTC’s corporate Environmental Plan as part of the TTC’s Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) Management System. The incumbent will provide support on various initiatives as part of the implementation and maintenance of the Waste Management, Discharge Water Quality, Spills, Subsurface Contamination Management and Idling Control Corporate Programs.
You will provide administrative and technical support for the successful implementation of the consolidated Contract, including reconciliation of monthly invoices ensuring appropriate waste classification, development and maintenance of Contract procedural documentation, maintaining contractor training records, provide direction to TTC departmental stakeholders, and coordinate hazardous waste service requests.
You will track and analyze environmental spill reports submitted through the TTC’s online SH&E management software solution for common themes to recommend controls or measures to prevent recurrence, provide guidance to TTC departments to ensure proper spill response and clean-up procedures, and prepare environmental spill reports for the City of Toronto and Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) as required.
In addition, you will assist EAs with creating procedural and educational materials in support of Environmental Corporate Programs, assist with other projects as assigned by the Manager - Environment, and demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work environment.
