A healthcare provider in Drayton Valley is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high-quality service in laboratory settings. The successful candidate will handle, process, and test specimens, perform blood collection procedures, and monitor results. Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program and relevant training in ECGs and urinalysis are essential. The role offers a part-time position with a salary range of $23.72 to $29.56 hour.

As a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team where you are responsible for performing all aspects within the scope of practice of an MLA including all specimen procurement and blood collection procedures as well as cardiology and urinalysis including microscopic analysis. With a customer service focused approach, you build productive and respectful customer relations and take responsibility for customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for monitoring the collecting, analyzing, and reporting of biological specimens, performing ECGs and Holter monitors. You have an ability to encourage others, building positive, respectful and collaborative working relationships.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program including a microscopic urinalysis component. Equivalencies may be considered. Cardiology training and experience including ECG’s and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micro-punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Recent experience performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis testing.
2 years recent experience working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Recent experience with MUSE and Cardioday applications. Current registration with CSMLS. Experience using Epic/Connect care. Recent experience performing urinalysis using Clinitek Advantus.
