Job Purpose and Overview

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of delivery drivers and managing the day-to-day warehouse and transportation operations for our Montreal distribution center.

Shift Schedule: Monday- Friday 5:30 am– 2:30 pm

What will you do as a Transportation Supervisor at Dawn Foods?

  • Ensure compliance of all driver DQF records and vehicle documentation
  • Responsible for monitoring and auditing all driver logbooks to be sure they are maintained as required by Dawn Foods Policy and the Transport Quebec (Canada).
  • Ensure that all IFS standards, safety policies and requirements are being enforced and followed.
  • Schedule and plan quarterly driver meetings and coach driver on DriveCam events.
  • Ensure all vehicles are kept clean and are being maintained in safe operation condition by ensuring required documentation such as Inspections, Daily Damage Report Sheet, and VCR are completed.
  • Deal with any truck breakdowns or repairs.
  • Investigate customers' complaints involving such matters as damaged items, driver performance, and delays in shipment, and make necessary adjustments within the scope of the position.
  • Investigate and report all MV accidents involving Dawn drivers as required. Follow all procedures stated in the Dawn program.
  • Direct the activities related to dispatching, routing, tracking vehicles, booking delivery appointments and coordinate vendor and carrier pickups.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as adherence to employee regulations and Transport Quebec (Canada) laws, in daily operations.
  • coordinate the department requests for vacation, days off, suggestions, or safety concerns as well agency help.
  • Responsible for all warehouse functions and maintenance, including order picking, receiving , placing pallets on racking with forklift tracking of Chep pallets, maintaining inventory and cycle counts, servicing 3rd party carriers and customer pickups.
  • Other duties or assignments as needed.
  • Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.

What Does It Take to be a Transportation Supervisor at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of transportation management experience with a full understanding of Transport CanadaandCanadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) National Safety Code (NSC).
  • Proficient in English and French. Ability to effectively communicate both in written and oral form required.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and other heavy warehouse equipment required.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Dawn people.
  • Training and experience in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and SAP
  • Experience with routing and GPS Systems (RoadNet, GreenMile, GeoTab) is preferred.
  • Class 1 Preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Ability to withstand cool and/or cold temperatures.
  • Normal setting for this job is warehouse/office.
