Job description

As an Intern reporting to the Environment Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Environment Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

  • Conduct sampling, monitoring, and inspections along the Meliadine roads and sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Install and oversee the implementation of mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Draft detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations. Develop comprehensive work plans for environmental initiatives and projects.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings with stakeholders to address reported issues and concerns.
  • Maintain open communication channels between the Environment Department and other relevant departments.
  • Undertake any additional tasks as assigned by the Environment Coordinator to support departmental objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Or currently enrolled in an Environmental Technician college program or related field.
  • Students must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
  • Demonstrated versatility and adaptability in conducting wildlife, vegetation, air, soil, and water sampling, along with other tasks related to mine sites and roads.
  • A strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as a member of a team is required.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to handle change.
  • High level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Able to work outside in summer and winter.
  • Promote a safety mindset to ensure all projects and activities comply with safety regulations and AEM standards.

Please note that English is the official working language at Meliadine.

Work Schedule:

  • 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on-site at no cost. Charter flights are provided to and from the mine site, and travel expenses are covered according to your residence in Canada.
