Overview

POSITION TYPE TERM (One Year Term), FULL-TIME (Days, Occasional Evenings/Weekends) The Wellness Program Coordinator will oversee staff wellness initiatives, with a particular focus on supporting those who work with vulnerable populations in the community. This role involves developing and facilitating wellness programs that include both group and individual support sessions, aimed at mitigating the effects of daily stressors and critical incidents encountered in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement wellness programs that support staff resilience, mental health, and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate regular group sessions, healing circles, and individual support sessions to address the impact of daily work experiences and critical incidents.
  • Integrate trauma-informed and culturally safe practices into all wellness offerings.
  • Ensure wellness initiatives reflect the cultural diversity of staff and the communities they serve.
  • Collaborate with cultural advisors, Indigenous Elders, and community leaders to co-create inclusive wellness strategies.
  • Promote cross-cultural understanding and healing through workshops, storytelling, and traditional practices.
  • Provide tools and resources to help staff manage burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma.
  • Provide supports for leadership, managers, and supervisors on how to support staff wellness.
  • Foster a workplace culture of care, safety, and mutual support.
  • Collect feedback and data to assess the effectiveness of wellness programs.
  • Adjust programming based on staff needs, incident trends, and community dynamics.
  • Report outcomes and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering trauma-informed wellness programs for employees working with vulnerable populations in the non-profit sector.
  • A combination of education and/or relevant lived experience in social services or community wellness is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse and vulnerable populations.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis response, and mental health supports.
  • Skilled in group facilitation, one-on-one support, and culturally sensitive communication.
  • Certification in mental health first aid, wellness coaching, or crisis intervention is an asset.
