Water Truck Operator

Location: Upcoming project site, approximately 30 minutes north of Edmonton, AB
Company: Infracon Construction Inc.
Project Duration: September - December 2025 (anticipated)
Shift Schedule: 6 days on / 1 day off (subject to change by project leadership)

About the Project:

Infracon Construction is preparing to deliver a large-scale earthworks and infrastructure project north of Edmonton. The scope includes pond construction, desludging and dewatering, HDPE liner and piping installation, road upgrades, and site works. We are looking for skilled and safety-conscious Water Truck Operators to join our project team.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Water Truck Operator to support dust control, compaction, and general site preparation activities. The successful candidate will operate a water truck safely and effectively while supporting overall site operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a water truck to provide dust suppression on roads, work areas, and stockpiles
  • Deliver water to support soil compaction during grading, trenching, and road construction activities
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the water truck and associated equipment, completing all required logs and checklists
  • Maintain water truck in good working order, performing minor maintenance tasks and reporting mechanical issues promptly
  • Coordinate with site supervisors, operators, and labourers to ensure water is applied accurately and efficiently where required
  • Monitor ground conditions and adjust water application to achieve optimal compaction, minimize dust, and maintain safe work areas
  • Communicate effectively via radio or hand signals to coordinate with heavy equipment operators and ensure safe site operations
  • Assist with the setup, refilling, and movement of water tanks as required on site
  • Support other site tasks when water truck operations are not required, including site cleanup, material movement, and general labour duties
  • Follow all company and client safety procedures, environmental standards, and project-specific requirements
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and safety meetings, actively contributing to a culture of safety on site
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Previous experience operating a water truck in a construction or earthworks setting preferred
  • Valid Alberta Class 3 drivers licence (or higher) with a clean abstract required
  • CSTS-2020, WHMIS, and Ground Disturbance certifications are considered assets (training can be provided)
  • Familiarity with construction sites, dust control practices, and compaction support
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to adapt to changing site conditions
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and effective communication skills
