Overview

A S2F Virtual Coach plays a significant role in encouraging children weekly to achieve positive change physically, mentally, and emotionally through fitness and literacy. Coaches help build confidence and motivation within children, while reducing learning gaps and developing a lifelong love of learning.

Our Brainworx! is an online afterschool program for students in grades 1-6 and runs twice a week between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 30-40 minutes each session. We focus on physical activity, literacy, and social-emotional development. Each group has 10-12 students and 3-4 coaches. Our Brainworx program has various start times between 3:30pm – 6:30pm EST.

Responsibilities
  • Support virtual sessions for students in Grades 1–6, helping create a fun, inclusive, and consistent online learning space.
  • Assist with fitness activities, literacy activities, and mentoring to promote character strengths.
  • Help maintain engagement and provide encouragement so kids feel seen and supported.
  • Collaborate with the coaching team to manage groups of 10-12 students with 2-3 volunteer coaches per group.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Reliable, tech-savvy volunteers with an interest in fitness, literacy, and social-emotional development.
  • Ability to work with children in Grades 1–6 in a virtual setting.
  • Willingness to commit to 30-40 minute sessions, 2x per week (Tue/Wed/Thu) during fall and winter terms.
