The Opportunity:
WSP Canada is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Vice President of Finance for one of our key market sectors. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping the financial strategy, driving business success, and promoting inclusivity within the sector. As the Vice President of Finance, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership, guiding financial decision-making, ensuring financial stability and growth; and develop strong working relationships with the Sector as a member of their leadership team, working collaboratively with the Sector leaders to achieve organizational goals. In addition to the core functions of financial oversight, the Vice President of Finance will also be entrusted with support and execute on company wide transformation efforts. This includes championing organizational adaptability, implementing innovative solutions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across financial operations.

What you can expect to do here:
Financial Leadership: Partner with the Sector and WSP Canada Leadership to provide strategic financial leadership to the business, aligning financial objectives with business goals and priorities. Develop and improve reporting including key performance indicators for management to improve decision making, streamline business processes, and to support the growth and future needs of the business.
Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies and initiatives that support the sector's growth and profitability targets.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with business objectives.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Project Profitability: Take a lead role in monitoring and enhancing project profitability, working closely with project teams to optimize financial performance for the Sector overall. This would include partnering with the business in the pursuit of growth projects, assisting with the assessment or risk and profitability, and pricing of major pursuits, and in the monitoring of existing projects profitability, risk and working capital.
Financial Success: Drive initiatives to maximize value creation of the market sector, identifying opportunities for revenue growth,cost efficiencies and free cash flow optimization.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks while optimizing opportunities for financial growth.
Team Leadership : Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement and developing succession.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, financial standards including IFRS, and internal policies and procedures. Ensure internal and system controls are in place and congruent with corporate objectives and standards, as well as oversee and implement specific controls for the sector.
Mergers, Acquisitions and Integration: Provide financial analysis and due diligence support for potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships. For completed acquisitions, lead the integration process representing Finance in partnership with the Sector Leadership
Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior executives, business leaders, and external partners, to drive financial success.
Cost Management: Monitor and optimize cost structures and resource allocation to enhance profitability.
Process Improvement : Foster a culture of continuous process improvement, working collaboratively with the business and Finance leaders to support the company’s goal of continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
CPA or CPA equivalent, MBA is an asset.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a professional services or engineering sector.
Proven track record of inclusive financial leadership, strategic planning, and driving financial results.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent knowledge of Oracle and other financial software and tools.
Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation, diversity, and continuous improvement.
Bilingualism is highly desirable considering the national scope of the position
