Job description

OVERVIEW

The Vice President Finance - Canada, role will lead the financial strategy and execution for General Mills Canada, reporting to the Canadian Managing Director, and partnering with the broader Canadian Leadership and the North American Finance leadership teams. This critical leadership role demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in the CPG landscape and a proven ability to drive profitable growth and develop people. You will be accountable for developing a high-performing finance team as well as fostering strong cross-functional and cross-border collaborations.

Given that collaboration is critical to the success of our team members, our teams, and our business, the expectation for this role will be to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Leadership & Business Partnership: Provide financial oversight and thought leadership to the Canadian business, guiding strategic decision-making and ensuring alignment with overall financial objectives. Partner closely with the President and Canadian leadership team to improve business performance, drive efficiencies, and deliver exceptional results.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement strategic financial plans, ensuring disciplined execution and accountability across all functions. This includes deep understanding of consumer, customer, competitor, and operational models.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the Canadian operating unit, providing timely and insightful data to inform critical business decisions.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team of 25 professionals across P&A, Brand, Sales, Revenue Management, and Supply Chain. Foster a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on collaborative and supportive environment that promotes growth and excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners within both the Canadian and North American teams to drive sustainable, profitable growth while adhering to all fiduciary responsibilities and compliance requirements.
  • North American Finance Integration: As a member of the North American Finance Leadership team, contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and collaboration across the broader organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience; strong financial analysis experience and full P&L management
  • Preferred experience in CPG or Retail Sector
  • Strong finance leadership with hands-on, diverse experience across a broad set of finance roles including working with P&A, commercial, supply chain, and sales functions
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a capacity to identify and address complex, enterprise-wide challenges, considering the broader implications and potential systemic impacts
  • Strong business acumen, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to earn trust, partner, and influence cross-functional team members
  • Possesses a strong enterprise mindset, able to connect individual or operating unit contributions to broader organizational strategy and goals
  • Proven track record demonstrating objectivity, attention to detail, and seasoned business judgment
  • Reputable people leader; strong ability to lead high performance teams and work through others
