Position: Vice President, Corporate Development, Correspondent Services

Location: Toronto

Role and impact

Raymond James Correspondent Services (RJCS), a division of Raymond James Ltd., is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Development, Correspondent Services for our Toronto office. With a Canada-wide mandate, the role is responsible for development and execution of the division’s growth plan and key initiatives identified by the SVP, Raymond James Correspondent Services. The Vice President of Corporate Development, Correspondent Services will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities and driving the company\'s growth initiatives. This role requires a leader with a strong background in planning, business development, and market analysis. The position supports the recruitment or acquisition of Portfolio Management firms, CIRO member firms and targeted investment professionals onto the Raymond James platform as part of the execution of the growth plan. The candidate will assist in the development and execution of the division’s business plans, including expansion of its Financial Institutions Division (FID) program, networking through industry and internal contacts, and coordinating and implementing various initiatives, with emphasis on business development. The position works closely with business areas throughout Raymond James Ltd., including the firm’s leadership team project stakeholders, Raymond James Financial Planning (Insurance division) and the Private Client Group business development team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support for Raymond James Correspondent Services in reaching growth targets.
  • Assist in developing and implementing RJCS growth initiatives, including the planning and reporting of divisional goals and their achievement.
  • Sponsor assigned divisional projects through to delivery.
  • Stay informed and brief RJL leadership on industry trends, developments, and emerging insights.
  • Gather competitive intelligence including media, industry surveys, speeches and reports, analyze and prepare information for further analysis, and develop resulting business recommendations.
  • Research, identify and recommend new sources, partnerships, ideas and initiatives for growth and development.
  • Source opportunities and relationships based on personal networking.
  • Develop and manage relationships and communications with high-level prospects/clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education and equivalent work-related experience.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in financial services.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that drive business growth.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking skills and ability to successfully navigate changing priorities, comfort with ambiguous situations and ability to coach others through change.
  • Creativity and ability to take initiative and effectively manage projects through their completion and to execute on time and on budget.
  • Superior organizational, multi-tasking, and highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A solid understanding of the procedures, processes and operations required to support correspondent business.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, financial literacy, and market dynamics.
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to work autonomously, across stakeholder groups including willingness to travel to mostly major Canadian markets.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills and ability to manage, foster and grow constituent relationships.
  • Rigor, integrity and proven ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Analytical and project management skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.
