Our Client, a Banking company, is looking for a UX Designer III for their Toronto, ON/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities
- Data collection: Conducting design research methods including observation/ethnography, diary studies, user interviews, usability testing, card sorting, experiments, etc. 3 years
- Analysis: Utilizing qualitative and quantitative approaches to make sense of collected data and create actionable insights. 3 years
- Dissemination: Translating findings into easily understandable insights used to drive ideation and inform design, in diverse formats including experience maps, usability test reports, personas, walkthroughs, one-pagers, etc. 3 years
Design Researcher
- The Research Science Group within the Human Centered Design Practice at client is seeking applications from capable researchers for 1-year contract opening with our team.
- As a client Human Centered Design (HCD) Senior Researcher, you will be expected to support many phases of the design research process.
Conduct Research
- Research design: identifying areas of opportunity for research, defining research questions, creating actionable research plans, and selecting appropriate methods of data collection and analysis.
Research preparation
- Creation of participant screeners; recruiting from internal employee panels or networks, snowball sampling or working with vendors to recruit external participants; creating research protocols.
Data collection
- Conducting design research methods including observation/ethnography, diary studies, user interviews, usability testing, card sorting, experiments, etc.
- Analysis: utilizing qualitative and quantitative approaches to make sense of collected data and create actionable insights.
Dissemination
- Translating findings into easily understandable insights used to drive ideation and inform design, in diverse formats including experience maps, usability test reports, personas, walkthroughs, one-pagers, etc.
Enable Research
- Collaboration:
- Working with diverse groups including POD leaders, service design directors, designers, developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand and support their research needs; maintain and build relationships across various stakeholder groups; support Research Science team members as required; collaborate with other HCD research teams, marketing research teams, etc.
Building research roadmaps
- Understanding the needs of your partner groups and building out roadmaps/research plan to achieve their shared goals.
- Vendor oversight:
- As required, oversee/manage research vendors carrying out studies on behalf of the Research team.
Intern support and mentorship
- As required, support and mentor interns who may be assigned to your project.
Research strategy
- Actively participate in strategic planning and development of research models for supporting innovation and innovative work within PODs – helping keeping human-centricity as a focal point for Client
Requirements
- Bachelors in psychology, computer human interaction and anthropology, Undergraduate degree is required in psychology, anthropology, computer science, industrial engineering, human factors, human-computer interaction or a related field
- Sufficient exp as a researcher role in the past, FI industry exp, very strong foundation Human Centered Design or relevant education in this field, strong research knowledge, research methodology banking exp is a nice to have, identify which methodology to use

- Deep knowledge/expertise & experience within Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related discipline
- Experience studying applied problems is a bonus – especially those concerning emerging technologies and user needs
- Strong communications skills: written, oral, and graphical
- Strong project management skills with ability to balance tasks spanning multiple studies
- Knowledge of inferential statistics and familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) is an asset
- Strong preference for graduate degree in relevant area (as specified above)
- 3-5 years of relevant research experience (including academic experience)
- We consider academic work towards graduate degrees as relevant experience (for example: primary research work towards thesis, papers, etc. as well as teaching and mentorship)
