A health authority in Canada is seeking a Nursing Assistant to transport patients and ensure their comfort during their stay. The ideal candidate should have a Nursing Assistant Program qualification and the ability to communicate effectively. Responsibilities include maintaining work areas and ensuring patient needs are met. This role demands physical capability and organizational skills.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Nurse Manager or designate. Transports patients between the designated sending area and the appropriate receiving unit. Ensures patient comfort needs are met in the area by performing patient care duties such as applying warm blankets to patients, and emptying drainage catheters. Maintains designated work and storage areas by checking and re-stocking equipment and supplies, checking oxygen tanks and suction bottles, and cleaning and changing beds.
Education, Training And Experience
Grade 10 plus graduation from a Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
