Job description

Growing truss manufacturer is looking to hire a Truss Plant Production Lead to guide daily production operations within a modern manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for directly supervising a team of skilled workers in each area of the plant, ensuring daily production volumes and product quality standards are met, while ensuring all flow through the plant is efficient, on time and properly documented. This role requires a strong understanding of wooden roof trusses, roof truss building processes, and the ability to effectively utilize various truss tools and automated saw and press machinery.

Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work crew to efficiently meet production timelines.
  • Oversee truss construction to ensure full adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage materials handling flows and processes on the production floor, including material requirements and movement to and from the yard, assisting with inventory management and ensuring safe, efficient handling and storage techniques are followed.
  • Train and mentor team members on the proper operation of hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment, enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize production schedules and resolve any operational issues as they may arise.
  • Monitor performance metrics, make recommendations and implement improvements as necessary to enhance the performance of the plant, including equipment utilization, production crew productivity, maintenance of product quality and overall efficiency.
To qualify for this position, you will have:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a truss manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of roof trusses, assembly, fabrication, and sawing processes.
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts and other industrial equipment safely.
  • Ability to manipulate CAD drawings using industry standard truss design software.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members, improve processes and services.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job.
