Overview

ENWIN Utilities Ltd. is accepting applications for the position of Temporary Journeyperson or Apprentice Water Distribution Operator (Hourly Rate $35.83 - $37.72).

Location: Windsor, ON

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate the water distribution system in accordance with MECP requirements and ENWIN policies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repair activities on all appurtenances within the water distribution system.
  • Plan, initiate and tear down traffic plans and devices in accordance with MTO, MOL, City of Windsor regulations and ENWIN policy.
  • Inspect contractor work to ensure adherence to ENWIN standards.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to customer complaints; commission new infrastructure; collect water samples; hot tap the distribution system for new services and pressure stations; find leaks; diagnose water distribution network problems.
  • Complete all required documentation.
Hours

Hours of work: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Water Distribution Subsystem Class 1 Certificate through MECP; a minimum of four years of related experience; valid Class D Ontario Driver's License with a Z endorsement.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Health and Safety Act and safe work practices.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Proficiency operating heavy equipment (backhoes or excavators) is an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, GIS, Laboratory Information Management Systems, water distribution sampling protocol, and working with various mobile technologies is an asset.

The position involves completing an 8,000-hour training program with the goal of attaining the Water Distribution Subsystem Class 1 Certificate. Progression depends on performance and successful completion of training objectives. Advanced standing in the training program may be provided for directly related experience and qualifications.
