Job summary

A family-owned vineyard operation in the South Okanagan Valley is looking for a Summer Viticulture Technician. In this role, you will assist certified Viticulturists by participating in all aspects of the viticulture program, including field work and data collection. Ideal candidates have a keen interest in viticulture, can work in various weather conditions, and have some computer skills. Comprehensive training and experience with premium organic grapes will be provided, alongside potential accommodations and discounts on winery experiences.

• Working towards or having a degree, diploma, or certificate in a certified Viticulture/Oenology or natural sciences program is preferred.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors and under various weather conditions.
• Ability to operate an ATV or willingness to learn.

Viticulture Technician

Spend your summer working under certified Viticulturists and experience our vineyards during the busy Okanagan growing season. As our Summer Viticulture Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the viticulture program for our vineyards in the South Okanagan Valley.

Sebastian Farms is a family owned, vineyard operation growing premium organic grapes for a collection of our wineries throughout the Okanagan Valley. Our operation spans across valley with vineyards located in Lake Country, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Naramata, Oliver, Osoyoos, and the Similkameen Valley. Our viticulture program is dedicated to growing premium quality grapes, infusing sustainability into every aspect of our vineyards, and investing in the Canadian wine region.

A Day in the Life of Our Summer Vit Tech

• Field work and data collection for crop yield forecasting
• Scouting and data collection for our Integrated Pest Management program
• Field work and data collection for assessing vine water status.
• Assist with internal research trials.
• Assist with some aspects of new development.
• Maturity sampling closer to and during harvest
• Petiole and soil sampling as required.
• Office work when needed.

What You Bring

• Must be comfortable working outdoors, working alone, and under various weather conditions.
• Having or working towards a degree, diploma, or certificate in a certified Viticulture/Oenology or natural sciences program is preferred.
• Reliable and communicative
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Valid driver's license and transportation
• Genuine interest in wine and viticulture is necessary.
• Ability to operate an ATV or comfortable with learning to do so (training will be provided)
