Qualifications

Job summary

Reporting directly to the Cultivation Supervisor, the Cultivation Technician is responsible for carrying out daily operations involving various plant cultivation and crop care activities, including clonal propagation/seed germination, transplanting/planting, pruning/structuring, harvesting, scouting and monitoring. Duties may also include crop treatments, cleaning and sanitation of cultivation zones and tools/equipment, and/or any other relatable operations to ensure crop health and support the Breeding & Research programs at Aurora Coast located in Comox, BC, Canada.

Major Responsibilities / Duties
  • Adhere to the instruction and direction of Cultivation Leadership and Management.
  • Participate in all crop care and cultivation operations.
  • Participate in the continuous scouting and monitoring of the crop for health, pest and plant pathogens.
  • Release Biological Control Agents (BCA’s) as part of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Perform foliar and root treatments as part of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Communicate and escalate any issues/concerns with the crop and/or the production process to Cultivation Leadership.
  • Recognize and report unsafe conditions and practices, hazards or potential incidents.
  • Any other duties as required or instructed by Cultivation Leadership and Management.
  • Must adhere to Aurora\'s SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act. In addition, must adhere to all ISO requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Maintain and uphold proper hygiene practices to ensure personal, and crop health and safety.

Education & Experience
  • Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture, Horticulture, Nursery Production, or related field.
  • Pesticide Applicators certificate is considered an asset.
  • WHIMIS Training is considered an asset.
