Golf Nova Scotia is the governing body of golf in Nova Scotia representing approximately 18,000 members and 55 facilities across the province. Recognized by Sport Nova Scotia as the Provincial Sport Organization, the organization’s mission is to develop the future of golf in Nova Scotia while upholding the traditions of the game.

Job Summary

Golf Nova Scotia is seeking a high energy, creative and skillful team player to fulfill the position of Technical Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Technical Director develops and manages the sport development, programming and grow the game portfolios in alignment with the association’s strategic plan. You will work closely with Sport NS, Golf Canada, the provincial Department of Communities, Tourism, Heritage and Culture (CCTH) and the Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSIA) as your role relates to programming, funding and the administration of the sport. You will be a key team member of various committees and will work closely with several Golf NS volunteers as it relates to events, programs, initiatives and officials.

Responsibilities
  • Build development pathways and grow the game strategies that align with PGA National Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) guide
  • Lead the creation and execution of junior and adult programming
  • Lead teams of coaches, support team members, staff and volunteers
  • Ex-officio member of the Sport Development, EDIA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility) Rules and Handicap & Course Rating Committees
  • Work cohesively with various associates within Sport Nova Scotia, Golf Canada, the CCTH, CSIA and the industry as required
  • Membership service
  • Coaching and officials' recruitment, training and development
  • Lead EDIA programs and initiatives
  • Ensure that the role fulfills the requirements of the Technical Leadership Employment Program (TLEP)
  • Assist in the delivery of Safe Sport policies and practices
Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education – Degree or Diploma in a related field of study
  • Superb communication and customer skills
  • Proven ability to design, lead and deliver programs working with various stakeholders
  • 3+ Years of experience within the golf industry
  • The ability to assess our role within the industry. Capture opportunities to grow the sport
  • The ability to thrive both as an individual and a team member
  • The ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and industry partners
  • Strong budgeting creation, planning and management skills
  • PGA member in good standing a strong asset
  • Coaching certifications, clean vulnerable sector check and driver's abstract (or ability to obtain)
