Overview

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Hydrologist, Technical Consulting Director in a leadership role within our Water practice. You will design and lead the execution of water studies for major mining projects throughout Canada. We work across the mining life-cycle to support environmental assessments, permitting, operational decisions, and closure planning. You can work from our offices in downtown Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto, or choose to work remotely, or in a hybrid model that combines in-person and remote work. This is a senior leadership role where you will help shape our strategy and share accountability for business growth in Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise to expand our water management services and client base in Canada; serve as a key member of the core technical team to drive growth in environmental impact assessment, permitting, risk assessment, water resources management and site closure.
  • Lead the preparation of technical documents in your field of expertise. Depending on complexity, this may involve hands-on interpretation, delegating work to junior staff, and serving as the senior technical reviewer.
  • Contribute to business development in our global impact assessment and planning service area. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
  • Capitalize on existing ERM client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share through excellent technical delivery and business development. Act as a main point of contact for clients across multiple technical disciplines and service lines.
  • Collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with other ERM subject matter experts to integrate work and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
Who you are
  • P.Eng. or P.Geo with MSc/PhD in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years of consulting experience in water resource management, impact assessment and permitting in the Mining sector, with expertise in hydrometeorology, water balance and/or geochemical modeling, and hydrologic modeling of environmental water quality.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory drivers within mining and energy sectors, with broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices.
  • Well-developed team-building and influencing skills; high integrity; capable of addressing client and business needs and challenges.
  • Recognized technical expertise with a positive reputation with regulators relevant to environmental approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Experienced people management leader.
  • Strong English writing and presentation skills.

We anticipate a base pay range of $134,383 – $162,345 CAD for the Technical Consulting Director, Hydrologist role. Final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, and business needs. This role may be eligible for bonus pay.
