Continuing Education Secondary Programs, Night School (Asynchronous Teaching)

Program Days / Dates :

  • Semester 1 : Monday / Wednesday : September 29, 2025 – January 26, 2026
  • Semester 2 : Monday / Wednesday : February 9, 2026 – June 10, 2026

Program Hours : 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Toronto District School Board invites applications from qualified teachers to teach in the Secondary e-Credit Adult Program for Semesters 1 and 2, 2025-2026. All courses will be delivered using Brightspace while in a remote learning model. All positions are pending student enrollment.

Teachers are selected based upon subject qualifications related to the delivery of the curriculum and the ability to work with Secondary e-Credit Adult full Credit program in an online Night School setting. Live online teaching for the Night School program is required each evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Night School teachers will be required to provide one hour of live synchronous learning for the scheduled 3-hour sessions for both evenings.

  • Deliver the remote learning portion of the program through Brightspace or Google Classroom.

Summary of Duties :

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Develop learning and assessment / evaluation materials for remote delivery with diverse learners, potentially in small groups, in accordance with ongoing guidance from the Ministry of Education.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with student success department head, guidance and administrative staff to focus on student outcomes.
  • Record student achievement using Grades and PowerSchool according to Growing Success.
  • Respond within one school day to questions from students / parents / caregivers.
  • Attend online staff meetings as required by the Ministry of Education.
  • Complete mandatory forms for all credit recovery students, including individualized learning plans and final reports.
  • Address assessment and evaluation issues; submit a complete Grades summary by end of each semester.

Qualifications :

Candidates must have :

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification in good standing;
  • Flexibility to work online;
  • Knowledge and experience delivering online learning;
  • Broad knowledge of secondary school curriculum, assessment and evaluation;
  • Ability to relate effectively to students;
  • Professional use of ICT for online learning;
  • Thorough knowledge of PowerSchool Grades and Brightspace Grades;
  • Proven ability to promote equitable practices and inclusion;
  • Commitment to a learning / working environment that promotes human rights;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Outstanding oral and online communication skills.
